Dental Crowns and Bridges for Kitchener, ON
Your oral health relies on a full set of healthy teeth. If a tooth becomes infected or injured, simple fillings or bonding are unlikely to be an effective solution. This is because most often, the middle of the tooth or pulp, which houses the nerve center has been compromised. Even if root canal therapy isn’t necessary, if a significant amount of the tooth has been lost, a dental crown is typically the treatment of choice.
In the case of missing teeth, a traditional or implant-supported bridge can replace one or more teeth in a row. Implant-supported crowns are also used to comprehensively replace both the visible portion of the tooth and the root. At Kitchener Dental Studio, we provide life-like and long-lasting crowns and bridges to repair or replace damaged or missing teeth.
How Traditional Crowns Work
Our dentists perform thorough exams to determine the best approach to care for your damaged tooth. If it is broken or badly infected, treatment will be administered to restore your oral health.
When no infection or inflammation is present, we will obtain a dental impression of the damaged tooth. This detailed mold is used to craft the crown with a tooth-like ceramic material that is strong and durable. When the crown is ready, you will return to our office where our dentist places the crown securely and makes any necessary adjustments to ensure a natural feel, function, and appearance.
How Traditional (Fixed) Bridges Work
Dental bridges use healthy adjacent teeth as anchors for the replacement tooth. Our dentists can replace a single tooth or a row of teeth using a single or multi-unit bridge. The healthy “anchor” teeth are prepared to receive crowns that have the replacement tooth or pontic(s) secured between them.
Kitchener Dental Studio also offers premium dentures that are made to look natural and fit comfortably.
Implant-Supported Crowns, Bridges, and Dentures
Our Kitchener practice provides dental implants with a prosthetic that meets your needs. While a traditional crown is used as a cap and a bridge to replace a tooth, implant-supported crowns and bridges are always used to replace one or more missing teeth.
Dental Implants are titanium posts placed into the jaw and topped with the appropriate restoration:
- Implant-supported Crowns – top a single implant post and replace individual teeth.
- Implant-supported Bridges – top two strategically placed implant posts and can typically replace up to three missing teeth.
- Implant-supported Permanent Dentures – top four or more implant posts and are only removable by one of our dentists.
- Implant-supported Overdentures – top two or more posts and are removable by the patient.
